Being an adult doesn’t mean you are done learning.
And learning to meditate is something everyone should explore.
At Hello Good Design some of us have been traversing the waters of meditation, and it has been extremely helpful. The power of simply sitting still and reflecting is truly mesmerizing. We believe it is an eye-opening habit that is easy to do and cultivates so much fulfillment through mindfulness. Just dropping a shameless plug, our favorite way to tap into that inner peace is through Yoga with Adriene's YouTube videos. That girl has it going on - check her out.

Not to get too touchy-feely, but between our seeds of intrigue in the art of meditation and serendipitously meeting an Etsy artist who’s abstract work feels cerebral, the universe got our mental gears a turnin’.
We met Danushka Abeygoda through sharing one of our favorite digital prints from her Etsy shop. An intriguing woman to say the least – her experience in architecture, illustration, and teaching coupled with the fact she has lived in different countries – which is very cool to this US native. One that stood out to us the most was her time in Nagoya, Japan. This place has a lot of history, but we were really drawn to the Nagoya castle – we love the architecture and aesthetic that is happening there.
Drawing inspiration from DYA’s meditative pieces and the Nagoya Castle, specifically the Hommaru Palace, we felt the call to create a meditation Instant Room.
The white walls help to minimize stimulation, meanwhile the earthly greens and wood tones anchor you to the present. It's a little bit cleansing and with just the right amount of coziness to turn a Shavasana pose into a nap on the floor. The curated DYA Studio prints provide an all around visually pleasing focal for the space, and a great feature to use when you need to focus your gaze during a tough tree pose. Acknowledging the awesomeness in you, and the awesomeness in this space we want to say - namaste.
