AUSTRALIA. . .
In a stream of consciousness, we immediately think of awesome Aussie accents, sun kissed skin, kangaroos, the Bush, Sydney Opera house (thank you Finding Nemo), and beautiful beaches.
But Australia is much more than all of those things, and we are thoroughly intrigued by this place. To say we have always wanted to go to Australia maybe an understatement, it probably all started when our designer’s 1st grade teacher, named Mr. Hammond, was from Australia. He had the coolest stories, and most likely started the fascination with Australia.
Bringing us to the present, Danushka Abeygoda from DYA Studio who was featured in one of our past Instant Rooms (the meditation nook), described to us her creative and life journey. Specifically, she lived in Japan and now Australia… that’s right the place we have always wanted to visit. We were ecstatic and felt instantly tugged to create something with an Australian inspiration. Because Australia is a vast land with many different types of terrain we wanted to hone in on a specific area. Danushka is actually in Perth, Australia and turns out to be a perfect spot for an inspired Instant Room.
Perth is a coastal town and has many Instagram worthy spots, most notably the Blue Boat House which is where we pulled our color scheme from and the selfie loving quokkas! Seriously – look at these little marsupials they are the most smiley critters and appear in many posts from Perth. We had the basis for our design.
A beachy hideaway to get out for the Australian sun. A Blue Boat House inspired planked wall, with all the comfy, cozy throw pillows for a perfect post beach nap. A curated gallery on a picture ledge includes water inspiration and a bicycle. Oh, and don’t forget the quokka! You can’t make one of those cute lil’ guys your pet, but there are plenty of stuff plushy options. Bringing an Aussie inspired space straight to you this week. Cheers, mate!
